Announcement: Planet Pala Meeting
Pala, CA – The Pala Band of Mission Indians and the Pala Environmental Department announces the first Pala Planet meeting.
Planet Pala Meeting
Wednesday, February 20, 2019
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Pala Administration Building
Over the past year, the Pala Environmental Department has assessed the effects of climate change on Pala, including wildfire, drought, elevated temperatures, and flooding. Our findings show that it is time to summon the same resilience that the people of Pala have demonstrated for thousands of years as they adapted to disruptions to their lands, wellbeing, resources, and culture.
In response to our need to address critical environmental issues that are affecting Pala now and in the future, we are inviting the community to join us in creating solutions that reduce threats and build upon our community’s strengths. We are forming the Planet Pala Advisory Committee, comprised of Pala community and tribal members, staff, and partner agencies, which will be asked to provide input on climate actions and other environmental issues.
Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, February 20 at 10 am at the Pala Administration Building. At this meeting, we will present our findings about the impacts of climate change on Pala and hear from you about how to prioritize and implement the right solutions to protect key community assets and values.
WE NEED YOUR HELP to develop solutions for adapting to climate change and all its effects. Your input is critical to keeping Planet Pala a safe and healthy place for everyone to live. We hope to see you at our Planet Pala kickoff meeting!
